Now that the hard work is over, I am pleased to announce that I was chosen to be a Selection Committee Member on this year's White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. It was such a privilege to be able to represent the arts in Washington, and to recognize so many talented kids from around the country. I was blown away by the scholars in the Visual Arts category---so many of them are using their artistic abilities to promote change, political activism, and social justice. There were applicants fighting climate change, gun violence, misogyny, poverty, and other important issues. Knowing that these kids are going to be voting in November gives me great hope. The future really is in good hands.
